G'day
We have a narrative obstacle.
The war is over. We won. We didn't win Szentmartony, which is a pain. But this may well be corrected by the bug fixers (fingers crossed).
How do we approach this in the story?
Do we follow events truthfully, bugs and all, and tell the reader we won Lame Horizons? And if the devs hand us Szentmartony in a few days we just explain it away somehow?
Or do we pretend we won Szentmartony and hope for the best?
Or do we keep writing as if the war's still going on, until we know either way?

Follow events, bugs and all.
Whenever we try to write for things that have not yet happened, or that we hope will happen in the future we end up tying ourselves in knots - writing about IPEC before it was in and then waiting for months having done all the set up is a good example of this.
Whereas writing about the stupid things that happen in the game has resulted in some really good stuff (Sou's failing drive, stupid NPC's, Al's rail guns).
From an IC point of view "We won the space battle but our ground troops failed to seize control of the station" could be used as the reason why we no have a laming. We are there while we work out what to do next. Just like in real life!

I would use it to add more intrigue, someone in the Imperial hierarchy working against IPEC/The Octopus behind the scenes.

Ok. We run with it.
Rule number one: story follows game, not the other was around!

I've thought more about this.
If we run with what we've got and keep up a sustained effort to strip the Pact of their stations, nothing really has to change in terms of the narrative. We're still going after Szentmartony. It's just going to take longer, and be more of a campaign!
Much more opportunity for RP and posts concerning the long war between the Pact and IPEC.

Tom and I have had a chat as to how to work this into the story and have come up with this story plan:
IPEC win the war, therefore we win an asset. However, an Imperial power aligned with the Pact has pulled strings, worked influence and played in Imperial circles to claim that "IPEC are entitled to claim an asset, but Empire Pact get to decide which asset." This is considered true, though very poor form within the Empire. Therefore the Pact give us Laming Horizons instead of Szentmartony, lose a lot of face as viewed by the Empire. But it is what it is.
At this point, The Octopus decides to "Play the Pact at their own game." She instructs IPEC agents to work undercover and boost the Pact's influence (and honour) to a point where they have validity to challenge IPEC for assets again. At this instruction, Dex goes "fuck this for a laugh." and bogs off back to his moon until another war happens, Sou decides this is "dishonourable" and goes chasing aliens until the next war; RK and Al don't give a shit and go with it.
This give us a reason to work for Pact in the cannon and possibly plenty more blog posts and political intrigue at the start of Season 3 (even if, out of character, Tom will probably mission it as well for Pact).
What do we all think?

I like it a great deal. It follows the game events accurately and yet presents lots of opportunity for espionage and intrigue in the story. Souvarine might infiltrate the Pact along with the others actually - sounds like fun. He's not that honourable.
It means that Season Three will be about a lot of war!

I like it. Proposed title.
Season 3 - What is it good for?

I like your thinking! Maybe slightly too obscure though?
We should think about how we wind up Season Two for a kind of cliffhanger ending. Some kind of punctuation mark in the story at least.
Maybe a news report about how the war has abruptly come to an end, followed by a missive from Octopop saying "we've been played. Don't worry, I have a plan." Or they could meet at Laming and discuss it face to face perhaps.
Thoughts?

Face to face at lemmings horizon (sorry, that's stuck), accompanied with a screen shot of all of us landed near it, for the pure silly factor of seeing A Cutter a Python and Asp and a FAS around the worlds smallest shed!
