Hi Guys,
We wanted the Introduction page for Commanders' Log to promote both the forum and the player group. Here's a first pass at that. See what you think and edit if you want. This is only a very rough first pass.
Commanders’ Log 3301 is a work of fiction set in the Elite Dangerous universe. It follows the adventures of a player group called the Dangerous Characters. Although there is some license taken with the sequence of events everything you read here is based on events that have actually happened to us while playing, with additional content added to fill in the back story and personality of the characters.
We are primarily aligned with the Empire and also have a minor faction in the game called IPEC (the Imperial Private Expeditionary Company). Although the founding members are all working for the Emperor (Bask in Her Glory) we welcome commanders aligned to any of the imperial powers.
We're a diverse group, bounty hunters, smugglers, explorers, traders and miners, everyone is welcome, so if you're interested in being part of an ongoing narrative, expanding a minor faction and ensuring Imperial influence is spread throughout the bubble, you can find us here (link). Feel free to pop in, introduce yourself and your character and have a chat. If you'd like to contribute to the story let us know, but if you'd just like your character mentioned but don't want to write yourself, that's fine as well.

I like it, it reads well and sums us up :-)

Agreed, I think that covers everything well. Ideal.
I think you mean 'miners'! 'Minors' is the legal term for children. And sadly I'm not allowed to fraternise with them online any more.

Changed, but it actually raises a fair point. While I know we're happy with miners what are our thoughts about minors in the group. I'm not sure if either the language or the general tone of our conversations is suitable to the young, the elderly or the infirm!

Don't ask the question? Sounds rather thorny and I can't be bothered vetting people. Nothing we say or do is going to be that risky, it'll just be a bit of swearing...

*Just seen Tom's post, says what this does but far better and more succinctly*
I would not have any official policy, you're setting yourself up for all sort of issues you we do either way:
ie. If we publicise that we are 18+, do we need to put access restrictions on the blog, does that affect how much FDev can actually involve us as the game is officially 7+? On the other hand, if we publicise open to all ages that can play Elite, do we have a child protection system in place and the moderation manpower to make sure nothing untoward happens?
I think we keep an unofficial "don't ask, don't tell" policy that considers, for someone to actually pass our entry criteria of enjoying the game, wanting to RP a little and not be a dick. That they're probably going to be of a reasonable age, maturity and be able to handle it on these boards.

Good point, well made.
The most pertinant point there is that, if they are interested in this they are either old enough or mature enough to handle whatever gets thrown at them. If not they probably violate the most important rule, "Don't be a dick"
